Like many other international stars, Alan Wilkins has also praised the quality of bowling in the on-going Pakistan Super League (PSL) fourth edition.
Talking to a local media outlet correspondent in Dubai, Alan praised the Lahore Qalandars’ player development programme as it has given birth to majority of young talent currently featuring in PSL, for Qalandars and other franchises as well.
I think Lahore Qalandars development program is fantastic. I have spoken to Rana family about it, I have seen videos of it, I think it’s exceptional. I think if all franchises can follow that as a template for developing talent in Pakistan then you can just fill the cupboard full of enterprising young players.
Alan added that when you have overseas players coming in and claiming that PSL bowling is the most difficult as opposed to any other league then it says a lot.
When you talk to some of the batsmen, especially the overseas batsmen who have come here, each and everyone has talked about the quality and the depth of the bowling.
It’s very instructional to me that this is a very high-quality league. The bowling, the strength in bowling depth in each of the franchises.
Talking more on the matter, the 65-year old said that Pakistan has unearthed world-class talent in shape of Haris Rauf and Mohammad Hasnain.
This year, we have unearthed two fast bowlers, Mohammad Hasnain for Quetta Gladiators and Haris Rauf for Lahore Qalandars and they are to me the two stars of the future. And, if each year out of the emerging player’s bracket we can do that (bringing new talent) it’s a great plus for the PSL.
Wilkins said that Pakistan needs to ensure that they groom these two youngsters and maybe they can also leave a legacy like Waqar and Wasim.
