Everything You Need to Know About M-Tag Registration for Motorways [Guide]

From May 2019, you won’t be allowed to travel via motorways if your car is not M-Tag registered with the Motorway Police. Besides, it saves a lot of time as you don’t have to wait in queues to pay the toll tax.

The main purpose of the change is to reduce the time wasted in several kilometer long queues at the toll plazas. It will also help digitize the whole process and make it a lot more smoother.

To avoid any inconvenience, take some time out and get your car registered. Here’s how you can do it.

  • Visit your nearest motorway toll plaza
  • Take your CNIC and vehicle registration book with you
  • Go to the M-Tag registration booths on the left side of the toll plaza
  • Give your details and get your car’s M-Tag ID

Note that there are no charges for this process and there is no minimum balance requirement. It is now a smooth process thanks to dedicated customer support agents at M-Tag service centers.

It is advised to place the M-tag registration at the top right corner of the front windscreen on the inside.

Balance Check and Recharge

As of now, the only way to check your balance is to use the motorways. Whenever you cross a toll plaza, you will be notified of your remaining balance via an SMS. More methods are expected to be initiated soon.

For your M-Tag ID, send mtag <space> CNIC and send to 9909.

There are numerous ways to recharge your M-Tag account.

  • thats really a good decision because daily cars need to wait alot of time to pass through the toll plaza which is sometimes in kilometers.
