Global tech giant Google is likely to start Google Pay services in Pakistan, we have learned from sources.
If sources are to be believed, the intent was communicated to government officials in a meeting earlier today.
Timeline for this is yet not clear, however, it appears that actual launch of Google Pay in Pakistan could take several months.
In a seperate meeting, the Google team met with Minister for IT and Telecom and apprised the minister that company is also looking to start a training programme for imparting basic digital expertise to the people in Pakistan.
They also discussed issues relating to social media, e-commerce, digital expertise, and digital payments.
The Federal IT Minister appreciated Google and assured his ministry’s full support for the initiatives.

This is Something Best of 2019
FINALLY
So e-commerce store can now get payment through cards on their store? What else?
Source of news? Pakistan is on FATF grey list how can Google investment come to Pakistan ?
They are introducing Google Pay. Google Pay is simply a method/service which makes it easier to pay through your credit/debit card. So you will be using this tech instead of giving credit card to retailers to swipe for payment.
great news
if it is true, it’s truly the best news of 2019 so far
Can someone please explain how this is going to contribute towards facilitating electronic transactions & day to day transactions in Pakistan?
Not so easy. Google will have to go through same Painful Know your customer process that is required of all Fintechs and obtain proper licensing. This can take several months before they can even start.
Its a good news but what about the local fintech industry and where will it stand after the google pay comes to Pakistan.
Ultimately this move from google and the Government will be a positive move for the consumers but not for the fintech industry.
our local Fintech industry was not serious either for being in Fintech, so now they get the shove.
Such a fanciful article! That’s what happens when you censor comments. Delusion sets in. We are still on the FATF grey list and might even be blacklisted so I doubt Google is going to start offering payment services in Pakistan. If anything they will stop their existing services like the ability to buy apps on playstore using Pakistani origin CCs.
I’m skeptical about this just like PayPal….. Our old school banks will obstruct it.
once they are integrated there is no going back
this should be the end of Finja ( finja.pk ) then
Good News, But in this article no source or link mentioned..
We are waiting for PayPal Now…
i sent several tweets, message, comments replied to PayPal, PayPal CEO Dan_Schulman, PayPal , Ask PayPal support communities, but no good response…
I even created “Petition” for PayPal to Imran Khan, PayPal CEO, Asad Ummar, but Chances are None, Even Asad Ummar never contacted PayPal CEO, he only sent tweet to PayPal but not PayPal CEO..

امید ہے کہ سچ ہو لیکن وقت لگے گا
Google should also launch its full range of Products in Pakistan. Just a comment
Its a happy act, should be launched soon & also Minister for IT and Telecom surely allow google to launch it as well its products.
Good should also have a proper channel in Pakistan. This is a very good initiative and big news for the development in the I.T sector in Pakistan. Online payment and fund transfer like Easy Paisa, Mobi Cash etc are in the development stage and Google can take it to a new level.
