The federal government is planning to restructure five public companies that come under the aegis of Petroleum Ministry; Federal Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sarwar Khan revealed.
A statement from the minister said he was going to restructure the board of directors of five public sector companies including Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL), Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL), Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC).
The statement added that merit-based new appointments would be made in the BODs of these companies to ensure ‘provincial representation.’
Ghulam Sarwar said that for the first time in the history, laws have been amended to delegate women in BODs of public sector companies.
“Under new laws, every board shall ensure the presence of at least one woman member.”
