Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has inaugurated the Green Electric Bus service in Layyah, marking the expansion of the province’s eco-friendly public transport network.
The chief minister formally launched the service through an online ceremony, while district officials held the local inauguration at the Layyah Sports Complex. According to the district administration, Deputy Commissioner Asif Ali Dogar, along with political leaders, inaugurated the service by cutting a ribbon.
Speaking at the ceremony, the deputy commissioner said the electric bus service would provide affordable and reliable transportation for students, women, senior citizens and office workers. He added that the low fares and modern facilities would help reduce commuting costs.
He said the air-conditioned buses would offer passengers a safe, comfortable and convenient travel experience while improving public transport services in the district.
The deputy commissioner added that the environmentally friendly electric buses would help reduce air pollution and contribute to the Punjab government’s vision of a cleaner and greener province.
He described the launch of the Green Electric Bus service as an important step towards providing modern, safe and sustainable public transportation to the people of Layyah.
