A local court in Karachi has issued arrest warrants for the top management of Atlas under the boiler explosion case.
The explosion occurred at the Atlas Metal Plant near Landi Manzil Pump in November last year.
Malir’s judicial magistrate heard the case on Monday.
The police said that six employees had died due to the explosion and they had registered a Qatl-i-Khata [unintentional murder] case against the company’s management.
The case remained pending for a few months, until yesterday, when the court issued arrest warrants against four suspects including Atlas Industrial Park Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Zafaraib Ali, Production General Manager Khalid Iraqi, Production Assistant Manager Muhammad Nawaz and Atlas Metals Production Assistant Manager Muhammad Zubair.
The magistrate reprimanded the police for using delaying tactics and ordered to change the investigation officer of the case.
Days after the explosion, one of the victims’ brother had filed a petition against Atlas’ management. The petitioner says that the blast had occurred when the company was experimenting with something at the metal plant.
