Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Visits Huawei’s Beijing R&D Center

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister H.E. Shah Mahmood Qureshi visited Huawei’s Beijing R&D center yesterday.

The dignitary was very happy to learn about the advanced technologies and showed his keen interest in Artificial Intelligence technology. He appreciated the efforts of Huawei and its contribution globally.

Huawei invested $14.8 billion on R&D in 2018. Spreading over an area of 73,934.7 square meters and housing more than 10,000 workers, Huawei’s R&D center in Beijing is one of the company’s largest R&D units.

During the visit, the minister also had a video conference with Huawei Pakistan staff in Islamabad through Huawei’s Telepresence Conference System.

Huawei Pakistan CEO, Mr Saif Chi promised that Huawei will continue creating more jobs and bringing the latest ICT technologies to Pakistan. He also briefed the foreign minister that Huawei has already established a Technical Support Center in Islamabad which has created 600 jobs and brought new technologies like AI and cloud computing to Pakistan.

The foreign minister appreciated the contributions of Huawei in Pakistan and assured his full support to create a better business environment for companies like Huawei.
