Telenor Posts 12.1% Growth in Revenues During Q1 2019

Telenor Pakistan has posted double-digit YoY growth in its revenues during the first quarter of 2019. The company said that its quarterly revenues reached PKR 28.26 billion during Q1 2019, up from PKR 25.2 billion during the same period last year.

It was stated that the revenue growth mainly came through increased subscription and traffic revenue, that grew 15% during the reported period.

Telenor said that its ARPU (excluding interconnect) also grew 10%, mainly because of increased revenues from data services and partly because of temporary removal of telco specific taxes (which were reinstated on April 27, 2019).

Telenor Pakistan, in its financial report, said that ARPU stood at PKR 206 during Q1 2019, up from PKR 193 during the same period last year.

The company said that its profits increased during the period, despite high pressure on opex which increased by 9%, mainly due to increased energy prices and increased network related cost from an expanding network.

Telenor said that spending on network expansion has grown the number of 4G sites in the country to around 8,000, which surpasses 60% of 4G population coverage.

EBITDA increased by 14% as a result of solid revenue growth and cost control.

Telenor Pakistan’s subscriptions grew 4% YoY to reach 44.26 million at the end of Q1 2019.
