Wahab Riaz Continues Training Despite a Fractured Finger

The Pakistani pacer Wahab Riaz will continue to train with the national team despite a fractured finger, a team official confirmed on Monday.

Raza Kitchlew, Pakistan cricket team’s media manager, confirmed that Wahab Riaz has asked to attend the team’s training sessions where the national team is preparing for the match against Bangladesh.

Speaking to media members in England, Raza said:

His injury is painful but Wahab has opted to continue training as he wants to play against Bangladesh. It’s a must-win game for us and the team will need his experience.

The injury was picked up by Wahab during a fielding training session at Headingley on Tuesday. However, Pakistan management decided to play him against Afghanistan as his bowling hand was completely fine.

Wahab proved his worth in the match against Afghanistan where he contributed with the ball and especially bat, which helped Pakistan reach the target.

He scored 15 crucial runs from 9 balls which included 1 four and 1 maximum against Rashid Khan, who was proving to be unplayable for Pakistani batsmen.

Pakistan now faces a daunting task of a must-win against Bangladesh if the Men in Green are to stand any chance of qualification to the semifinals of the ICC World Cup 2019.

The match between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be played at Lord’s on 5th July.
