These Macbook Pro Models Have Been Banned By Thai Airways

Following Apple’s recall of a number of 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops for their dangerous lithium-ion batteries, Thai Airways has banned these laptops from their flights.

Vice President of Thai Airways’ aviation safety department, Flt Lt Prathana Pattanasiri, said on Wednesday that Macbook Pro laptops sold between 2015-2017 will not be allowed on their flights.

These laptops will not be allowed as either carried or checked luggage, he said.

The ban was followed after the European Aviation Safety Agency announced to ban the specific Apple laptop models on all fights to and from the European Union for aircraft safety.

All 15-inch Apple Macbook Pro notebooks sold between 2015-2017 are being recalled for battery replacement.

The company wrote on its website:

Apple has determined that, in a limited number of older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units, the battery may overheat and pose a fire safety risk. Affected units were sold primarily between September 2015 and February 2017 and product eligibility is determined by the product serial number.
