After stepping down from Cricket Committee, Misbah-ul-Haq looks all set to be appointed as Pakistan’s next Head Coach, despite the fact that he does not meet the eligibility criteria set by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
His nearest competitor is Dean Jones, who has been working with Islamabad United in Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Sources say that PCB is likely to relax the eligibility criteria to accommodate the former captain. According to the advertisement, the applicants for the head coach role must have 3 years of professional coaching experience.
The 45-year-old does not possess the relevant coaching experience, however, his resignation from the high-profile post in Cricket Committee suggests that PCB wants him as the next head coach.
The fact that a number of former cricketers and experts are in favor of local coaches adds to his chances of leading the coaching team.
Though I would like to go with the indigenous product but professionalism need to think above this as the 11 players are presenting the whole 22 M people and our country mates are very emotional to cricket… so we shall go with best professional rather with compromise… If i had a choice between Misbah and Jones… i will prefer jones over Misbah even Mickey….
PCB Apni Misbah Apna : Support Karo Ab Merit Yaad Raha hai :
Misbah has played cricket with all current Paksitani players and such is prone to bias, intentionally or unintentionally. Coach should be qualified with proper post qualification experience.
