For the first time, HMD global participated in the IFA and unveiled several impressively specced midrangers. Nokia 7.2 and Nokia 6.2 were a part of HMD’s portfolio that was unveiled.
Both the smartphones share the same design elements, but the internals and the price bracket set them apart. As compared to Nokia 6.2, Nokia 7.2 comes with a better camera and a faster chipset.
Design-wise, Nokia has gone with straight lines and subtle curves that give the smartphone a very classy look. The body is constructed using a lightweight and durable polymer composite protected by Gorilla Glass 3. At the back, the smartphone features a Moto-Z like camera module almost the size of two camera modules stacked up.
At the front, the phone comes with a 6.3-inch 1080p LCD panel with a waterdrop notch and HDR10 support.
At the helm, Nokia 7.2 comes with a Snapdragon 660 chipset coupled with 4 GB or 6 GB RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB storage. The storage can be expanded by up to 512GB via an SD Card.
On the software front, the smartphone comes with out of the box Android 9.0 Pie, which HMD has promised to upgrade to Android 10.
The key selling feature of this mid-ranger is its triple sensor camera mounted on a huge circular bump. The main sensor is a ½-inch 48 MP camera joined by an 8 MP ultra-wide sensor and a 5MP depth sensor. The camera is equipped with image processing magic which, when combined with pixel binning, ensures improved image quality. The HDR shots combine 6 photos and the night mode combines 20 images in handheld mode and 10 images on a tripod. For selfies, the smartphone comes with a 20 MP single sensor.
Nokia 7.2 is fueled by a 3500 mAh battery backed by the standard 10W charging over USB Type-C.
The smartphone will be available for sale from September with a price tag of €300 for the 4GB/64GB model.
The only difference between Nokia 6.2 and 7.2 is in the chipset and the camera. Apart from that, it features the same design profile, the same display, and the same battery specifications.
Just like Nokia 7.2, Nokia 6.2 comes with a triple sensor rear camera housed on the huge circular bump. However, the 6.2 comes with a 16 MP main sensor, 8 MP ultra-wide sensor, and 5 MP depth sensor. It also has image fusion and stacking abilities. For selfies, the smartphone comes with an 8 MP single sensor camera.
Internally, the smartphone is run by Snapdragon 636 accompanied by 3 GB or 4 GB RAM and 32 GB or 64 GB storage. The software specifications are akin to the Nokia 7.2.
