Mobile Service Likely to be Blocked in Karachi on Ashura

Sindh government is considering shutting down cell service in Karachi during Ashura.

According to sources, the government has finalized security arrangements for mourning processions on 8th, 9th, and 10^th Muharram and blocking mobile networks on the route of the procession is one of the options on the table.

The sources said that the Secretary Interior has suggested blocking mobile services in parts of the metropolis. The provincial government has forwarded the proposal to the federal government for the final decision.

This year, Ashura is falling on the 9th and 10th of September.
