Imran Khan Shoots Up the Rankings for the Most Influential Muslims

Prime Minister Imran Khan has been ranked at 29th place in the list of World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center.

The premier has jumped from 450th in 2018 to 29th in 2019 for his humanitarian contributions, political struggles, efforts to curb corruption and money-laundering and achievements in the field of sports.

Sheikh Taqi Usmani is the highest-ranked Pakistani in the list. The Deobandi figurehead is listed as the 6th most prominent Muslim in the world.

Prominent religious scholar and preacher, Maulana Tariq Jameel, and Nobel Peace laureate, Malala Yousafzai have also been named among the most influential Muslims across the globe.

Here are the top 10 in the list:

  1. Recep Tayyib Erdogan – Turkey
  2. King Salman bin Abdul Azia Al-Saud – Saudi Arabia
  3. King Abdullah II – Jordan
  4. Ayatollah Khamenei – Iran
  5. King Mohammed VI – Morocco
  6. Justice Sheikh Mohammad Taqi Usmani – Pakistan
  7. Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Hussein Sistani – Iran
  8. Sheikh Al-Habib Umar bin Hafiz – Yemen
  9. Dr Sheikh Ahmad Muhammad Al-Tayyeb – Egypt
  10. Sheikh Salman Al-Ouda – Saudi Arabia
