Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Sees Pakistan’s First Ever Domestic Cricket Concussion Substitue

The revamped edition of Quaid-e-Azam trophy saw Pakistan domestic cricket’s first-ever concussion substitute on the pitch.

Mohammad Saad replaced Usman Salahuddin on the second day of Central Punjab’s match against Southern Punjab after the middle-order batsman was hit on the back of his neck.

Salahuddin was fielding at short-leg when he received the blow from opening batsman Sami Aslam to his neck and immediately went off the field.

The scans ruled out a concussion but claimed that Salahuddin did sustain a serious blow to the head but there is nothing alarm-worthy.

Informing the press regarding Salahuddin’s injury, PCB released a statement which read:

The player was immediately examined for a concussion and was taken off the field for an X-ray. Salahuddin had neck pain, headache, and blurred vision immediately after the injury.

Salahuddin was later kept under observation and was allowed to return to the dressing room. However, Central Punjab requested the match-referee to approve Mohammad Saad as a replacement for him.
