Babar Azam Breaks Javed Miandad’s Record

Pakistan’s run-machine Babar Azam has surpassed the legendary Javed Miandad on Monday and become the fastest player to reach 1,000 runs in a calendar year for Pakistan.

Babar Azam brought up his 11th century against Sri Lanka and completed 1,000 runs in just 19 innings.

The record was previously held by Miandad who reached the milestone in 21 innings.

Azam now sits among Pakistani legends including Mohammad Yousuf, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar and Misbah-ul-Haq.

The right-handed batsman has been a revelation for Pakistan as he has continued to improve and score runs for Pakistan on a consistent basis.

Azam now averages 53.55 in one-day internationals whereas 54.21 in T20Is.

It is worth mentioning that Babar also had a remarkable spell in recently concluded T20 Vitality Blast, where he was pick of the batsmen throughout the tournament.

  • Wait… 1000 runs after 11 centuries?? Shouldn’t he have reached 1000 runs maximum by his 10th century? I know what you mean to say but the way it is said without context is very confusing.

Please fix the phrasing, it is misleading.

    • He is correct. Babar has scored more than 3k runs. With 11 hundreds.
This year he has scored 1k runs.
