Here’s Why the President House Turned Pink Yesterday

October is being celebrated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month across the world to educate people about the importance of early screening and test for the disease. The annual campaign is aimed at raising funds for research and increasing awareness among the masses.

Pakistan has also joined in on the campaign as President House, also known as Aiwan-e-Saddar, turned pink on Monday. A ceremony for breast cancer awareness also took place at the President House in Islamabad where top diplomats including the Ambassador of Italy in Pakistan, Stefano Pontecorvo, and his wife, were also invited.

According to a tweet by the Italian Ambassador, the initiative has been taken by President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi’s wife, Begum Samina Alvi.

Pontecorvo added that he was honored to be part of the campaign to aware the masses about the disease, advising that “early diagnosis saves lives, always”.
