Oppo Launches Reno Ace With 90Hz Display & 65w Fast Charging

Oppo Reno Ace, the latest addition to the company’s Reno series of smartphones, brings all the top-tier flagship specifications one would expect. It has a 90Hz display, Snapdragon 855+ SoC, and the fastest charging speeds currently available on the market.

All of this is available for less than $450.

Design and Display

The display is a 6.5-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with a 90Hz screen refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It features an optical under-display fingerprint sensor and a waterdrop notch at the top. We have seen other companies, and even Oppo itself, remove the notch by either using a pop-up camera or punch-hole at this price point. But Oppo has omitted this in favor of a 90Hz display.

The back holds a quad-camera setup arranged in a vertical layout and an LED flash beside it.

Oppo has also added a heat dissipation pipe to keep thermals under control during intensive gaming sessions.

Internals and Storage

The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s top of the line Snapdragon 855+ with 8 to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. All of these beastly specifications combined should ensure superb long term performance.

The Reno Ace will run Android 10 fresh out of the box with its custom ColorOS 6.1 skin on top.

Cameras

The 48MP primary lens is a Sony IMX586 sensor combined with a 13MP telephoto camera with 5x hybrid zoom, 8MP ultrawide unit, and a 2MP monochrome sensor for better detail.

The Reno Ace does not follow the shark fin style pop up selfie camera trend. Instead, as mentioned above, you have the common waterdrop notch with a 16MP wide-angle lens. It is capable of HDR photos and 1080p videos at 30 FPS.

Battery and Pricing

It is a 4000 mAh power cell equipped with Oppo’s blazing fast 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging. It can fully top up the battery in just 30 minutes, making Reno Ace the fastest charging phone ever.

The pricing for each of the phone’s variants is as follows:

• 8/128 GB = $422
• 8/256 GB = $450
• 12/GB/256 GB = $534

Oppo has also unveiled a special 40th Anniversary Gundam Edition with a unique paint job and themed accessories. The pricing for this model has not been revealed yet.
