KP Govt Introduces E-registration System for Private Schools

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has introduced a new E-registration framework for private schools.

Under the new system, the process of registration of private schools will be streamlined. Moreover, the provincial government will be able to regulate matters concerning private schools in accordance with the law.

Zia Ullah Bangash, the adviser to the Chief Minister of KPK, said the framework has been formulated after consulting with parents and the Private Schools Association (PSA) of KPK.

Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA) of KPK will oversee the registration process of private schools. Unregistered private schools have been given a deadline of December 31, 2019, to register themselves at normal fee. In the last two months, 5550 private schools were registered with Private Schools Regulatory Authority. So far, the registration drive has raised Rs. 23 million in revenue.

In September, Peshawar High Court passed a judgment that prohibited private schools of KPK to take school fees during the summer holidays. The high court directed the provincial government to recover the fees from the private schools.

In light of the court’s judgment, the KPK government has formed special recovery teams at both Tehsil and District levels.

To extend healthcare and education facilities to FATA districts, the recruitment of doctors and teachers is underway. Under Insaaf Rozgar Scheme, youngsters of tribal districts will be given interest-free loans to set up their businesses.
