A four-member gang led by a woman has been arrested in Burewala for blackmailing men with objectionable videos.
According to the police, the woman named Saman used to befriend men on social media. She then called them at one of the gang member’s house and recorded their obscene videos.
The woman then blackmailed the victims with the video, demanding a massive sum of money.
The gang was arrested on the complaint of a man named Nawaz. The police also recovered the objectionable videos on the suspect’s phone and have launched further investigation.
Saman had earlier leveled rape charges against him that proved false after the medical report. In return, Nawaz’s father also filed a case against the blackmailers saying his son was innocent and was framed for money.
Police say that the gang is facing charges of cheating by impersonation, dishonesty, providing fabricated and false evidence, and lying under oath.
According to an official, the charges (if proved) can send Saman and co-accused for as many as ten years in jail under section 419, 420 and 194 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Meanwhile, the woman has refused to take the responsibility saying that Hafeez had lured her into the act.
Hafeez, on the other hand, told the police that he, along with two other people, were paid employees of Saman and were promised a cut in the extorted money.
