Honor V30 and V30 Pro are the Most Affordable 5G Flagships

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor held a launch event in Beijing, China today. At the event, the Company, along with the Honor MagicBook 15, Honor Magic Watch 2, Honor Flypods 2 and Honor Hunter Gaming Router, announced its first 5G smartphones, the Honor V30 and V30 Pro. Both Smartphones boast impressive specifications including Kirin 990 chipset, fast wireless charging, dual-selfie camera, and triple sensor rear cameras.

Design and Display

Design-wise, both smartphones look identical. They have the same black rectangular camera cutout on the back, housing a triple sensor camera. The fingerprint sensor is mounted on the side on top of the power button. The smartphones will be available in Charm Starfish Blue, Dawn Orange, Magic Night Star River, and Icelandic Fantasy color variants.

Both, V30 and V30 Pro are built around a 6.57-inch IPS LCD display with FHD+ (1080p) resolution, a tall 20:9 aspect ratio and a 91.46% screen to body ratio. Both the smartphones feature an elliptical punch-hole cutout for the dual-sensor selfie camera.

Internal and Storage

Internally, both the smartphones run on Kirin 990 with dual-mode 5G. The vanilla V30 comes with 6 GB or 8 GB RAM and 128 GB onboard storage while the V30 Pro boasts 8 GB RAM accompanied by 128 GB and 256 GB onboard storage. Both run on Magic UI 3 skinned Android 10.

These smartphones are also equipped with dual-band GPS and NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C and they can be paired with Honor Smart Screen Pro for video calls, as well as with Honor smartwatches and fitness bands.

Cameras

The Honor V30 Pro features an LED flash and laser autofocus. The triple sensor camera on the back sports a customized Sony IMX600 RYYB 40-megapixel main sensor, 8 MP telephoto lens and 12 MP ultra-wide sensor with 109 degrees FOV. It also supports 30x digital zoom, 5-axis OIS, EIS, 3x optical zoom, 5x hybrid zoom, 4K video shooting at 30fps and 720p video shooting at 960fps.

Honor V30, on the other hand, features the same configuration for the primary and secondary lens, while the tertiary lens is an 8 MP ultra-wide sensor instead of a 12 MP ultra-wide sensor.

For selfies, both the smartphones come with a 32 MP + 8 MP camera configuration.

Battery and Pricing

The V30 Pro is powered by a 4100 mAh battery with 40W fast charging support, 27W superfast wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging. While the vanilla V30 houses a slightly larger 4200 mAh battery with 40W fast charging but does not support wireless charging.
