We have all heard the statement that speeding is dangerous and can lead to fatal accidents, while this is true, according to recent information coming out of the UK, the number of people injured or killed due to accidents caused by slow drivers is higher when compared to those caused by overspeeding.
According to the information released by the UK Transport Department, there has been a 75% increase in the number of people seriously injured or killed in the last 5 years. They have further added that around 3 serious accidents every week are blamed on slow-drivers. The data shows that 25 people were hurt while 2 were killed across the UK and slow driving was identified as the main cause. According to the police, driving slower than the speed limit can also lead to accidents.
Driving way below the speed limit can lead to tailgating, undertaking, congestion and road rage by other people on the road.
Hugh Bladon, a member of the Alliance of British Drivers said:
Driving too slowly is a recipe for disaster. I have advocated for a long time that driving too slow causes frustration for other people and can cause them to attempt an overtaking maneuver, which is the most dangerous thing you can do on the roads.

My thoughts? I wholeheartedly disagree with the implication of this study. The fact that there are deaths from slow collisions does not vindicate fast driving. The hell? Would you survive a fast collision or a slow collision?
The UK’s road infrastructure is designed to keep higher speed limits with fewer populations. The moment you enter a city, you follow much slower speed limits, which makes them greatly safer but not immune.
Traffic accidents are a statistical expectation and can only be avoided through good urban / road design.
driving slow is not the problem, driving slow on fast lane is the main cause of accidents, and we are in this practice with pride. we are having motorways every where in the country, but people think driving slow cause good mileage, ha ha ha

You spoke my thoughts dear. It literally is frustrating to see someone in fast lane on road and driving at donkey cart speed(even donkey cart can sometimes can faster than that) and obstructing the traffic behind.

We literally have a whole category of vehicle which only designed to be driven slow on road i.e., rickshaws. Dont know what the top speed of those things is but they mostly drive at 30 km/h even when in fast lanes,
And dont forget those fat people who are resolving their family problems inside their cars while driving snails speed at the middle of two lanes. Also some sedan guys always using their phone and thing they are invincible or too good at multitasking when everyone else see them as going at granny’s pace. Lastly those female drivers who didnt yet learnt the road sense of what a lane is and they are given sedans and even SUVs, gow they drive?? Well no word can describe it, they are slow, sloppy, sluggish, even when they park they test rage in other people passing by.
