Times Higher Education (THE) has included 12 Pakistani universities in its Top 500 Emerging Economies University Rankings for 2020.
Only one institution from Pakistan has made it to the Top 100, as Times has placed Quaid-e-Azam University at 85th place. It includes institutions from countries that the London Stock Exchange categorizes as advanced emerging, secondary emerging, or frontier.
Rankings are compiled based on the following metrics:
- Citations
- Industry income
- International outlook
- Research
- Teaching
- No of students
- No of Students per staff
- No of international students
- Female to Male ratio

Besides, Government College University Lahore and the University of Sargodha have made their way in the list of Top 500-1000 Emerging Economies University Rankings.

Pakistani universities, especially the public sector ones continue to fudge these rankings. The research criteria means nothing in Pakistan, they continue to publish bogus research that has zero impact and is probably never read again by anyone once approved and published by some local journal.

Wrong rankings reported by Propakistani. QAU is NOT 87. Comsats is not ranked 159.
