Though it doesn’t seem right to be talking about cricket schedules as of now, we can safely assume that the Asia Cup isn’t a possibility. The extent of the impact of the COVID-19 is unknown as of now.

He also mentioned the job losses across the sector and fragile economies of cricket boards as some of the reasons behind his analysis.

The sports organizations are also hit deeply and there will be some tough measures once some semblance of normalcy returns. There are liabilities and difficulties that the Board faces and it will be a new kind of a challenge to deal with them.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials had a similar approach to the matter. When contacted, an official said he wasn’t sure as to when the next Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting will take place to finalize the details related to Asia Cup.

This year, Pakistan is set to host the tournament. Due to the World T20 scheduled later this year, the event will be played in the shorter format.

However, due to the prevailing situation amid the COVID-19 crisis, there is no ACC meeting planned in the near future, putting the tournament in jeopardy.
