Customers Can Approach State Bank of Pakistan For Other Banks’ Complaints

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has advised customers to approach its specialized department of complaint resolution for their grievances and complaints against commercial and microfinance banks.

The central bank has advised customers to approach banks through their helpline for queries or lodging complaints. In case complainants do not get an appropriate response from banks, they may approach the SBP helpline at 021-111-727-273, which will remain available during office hours.

SBP has enhanced its helpline capacity by deploying more agents at its call center to cater to the needs of the public for facilitation and guidance. It has taken additional measures to facilitate bank customers that are faced with extraordinary challenges arising out of the COVID-19 situation in the country.

Banks Directed To Enhanced Capacity of Call Centers

SBP has advised all banks to ensure that their call centers/helplines are available 24/7 for instant customer support.

The central bank encourages the public to use digital payment services as much as possible to help banks providing their services with minimal staff to ensure their safety.

The general public is encouraged to take appropriate safety measures in the context of the Coronavirus and use alternate delivery channels where possible including the internet and mobile banking, phone banking, etc.

The employees of banks and other financial institutions are providing services amid difficult working conditions due to COVID-19. For the protection of bank employees and customers, workplace safety and to meet the operational challenges in serving the bank customers, banks have been advised to implement guidelines issued by the World Health Organization, the Government of Pakistan and the Provincial Governments in letter and spirit.

Nevertheless, bank employees and customers still facing difficulties or having concerns over arrangements may take this up with SBP.

  • As per SBP announcement,in view of Corona that consumer borrowers may request for rescheduling/deferment of principle amount for one year.Reduction of interest rate from 13.25% to 09%,should also be applicable to borrowers ,who are requesting for rescheduling of their facility,whereas,Askari bank is not extending this relief to us,and imposing conditions for the same,not mentioned in the announcement.Clarification/reconciliation is required for better understanding of the relief package.

    This is informed that I am presently customer of Habib Bank Limited, availed Flexi Loan and as well as working as Government official.

    The State Bank of Pakistan instructed to all banks of Pakistan to differ the Bank Loan to its borrowers for the period of 1 year, indeed interests will remain continue during such period.

    I also wish to avail such facility but I have been informed by concerned officers of HBL that: –

    1. If I apply to differ the loan payment for 1 year, than after completion of 1 year your differed loan payment will be started with next year loan & interest payments (i.e. 2 Nos Interests Payments and 1 loan payment)
    2. Another officer informed me that your differ loan payment will be started after completion of present loan tenure / period and but during such additional period interest of bank will be again charged to you.

    You are requested to clarify the above 2 queries so that I may take decision

  • Sir it is stated that i got a small business loan of amount fifty thousand Rs.from Kashf micro finance bank basir pur branch district okara.according to state bank policy during covid-19 installment should be charged next year in jan 2021 but micro finance kashf bank not entertain this condition.all business should be closed.but kashf foundation regulary thretnd through phon calls to submit the installment.

  • Today 6 may 2020 I took cash rs 1,295,000 to deposit with meezan bank in Abbottabad. The ops manager instructed the cashier not to accept the cash. Upon my inquiry he said its rejected I asked him this has guarantee from SBP and govt of Pakistan but he returned the cash to return to National saving. I asked him to write its unacceptable he refused. I was shocked that I was holding big cash without any value at Meezan Bank Abbottabad.
    I rushed to nat savings manager who told me to go to another branch which was done.
    But i am still surprised that in Pakistan at meezan bank dont accept state bank guarantee and challange the writ of government.
