Bank Alfalah Supports 1.5 Million Beneficiaries Under Ehsaas Relief Program

Bank Alfalah is proud to be one of two exclusive partners for the delivery of the Prime Minister’s Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme, a PKR 144 billion fund aimed at supporting communities affected by the country-wide lockdowns due to the coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme is the largest social safety net initiative in Pakistan’s history. In the first phase, 1.5 million beneficiaries located in the remote areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir were asked to visit designated locations where Bank Alfalah teams were also present to ensure smooth delivery.

Subsequent phases will extend the support network across Pakistan. Each eligible family will be receiving PKR 12,000 to meet their financial needs.

To facilitate beneficiaries, Designated Bank Alfalah locations are being opened on Saturdays and Sundays for easier access. To reduce exposure, fresh currency notes have been deployed at these locations for disbursement. Designated locations are following strict social distancing measures and Bank Alfalah’s teams are coordinating closely with the government officials for quick and safe processing.

Bank Alfalah has already been working with the Ehsaas Programme on the Ehsaas Kafaalat initiative which supports deserving women across the country. The mechanism and technology in place has been rapidly adapted to cater to communities affected by the coronavirus across Pakistan.

Commenting on this partnership, Atif Bajwa, President and CEO Bank Alfalah said:

We are extremely proud to play a role in supporting our citizens in this critical time of need under the Ehsaas Relief. Our remote communities are most financially vulnerable in these circumstances, and we are stepping up to ensure that their needs are catered to. Over the years we have invested in growing our technological and resource capabilities across Pakistan and also our Digital Banking platform Alfa, which allows us to undertake a task of this magnitude with ease and efficiency. We laud the Government’s efforts in this challenging time and stand with them in ensuring safe and secure delivery of the emergency funds.

  • Only two Banks were selected as the Exclusive partners to distribute billions of rupees. All other banks especially the ones from Pakistan were excluded.

The first bank was Habib Bank and the second is Bank Alfalah. Both of these banks belong to the group with close ties to the ruling party.

Why not all banks were given equal opportunity?. Why close friends were blessed with the funds only?. This Pakistan belongs to One Party only or to all Pakistanis?.

This is the worst form of financial corruption in my view.

    • Stop finding -ve in everything.
Its not a profit loss transaction. Just a fund distribution. Govt selected the best channel’s for that.
If govt have been awarded this opportunity to MCB, you people will be like it belongs to mian mansha, why govt awarded this to mcb. Same goes for allied, ubl , meezan, and bank al habib.
Just appreciate the fact that first time in history of Pakistan, money went to the deserving via transparent Chanel.

      • Government is not allowed to select the exclusive banks behind closed doors. In transparent countries the banks can only be selected through a “transparent tender process”. But the blind followers of one party will tell us that everything is alright and dont question this government at all.
Also for your kind the information that this channel of Al-Falah Bank is the same that is used for Benazir Income Support Program. Ehsaas Program is just a “Renaming” of the BISP Program. All other processes are the same.
This distribution of free money is not the first time in history. Previous government did launch many scholarships like these.

      • There is nothing -ve after HBL the MCB and UBL is the 2nd most largest bank (branch-wise) and the relief fund is directly belongs to the poor and most of them are illaterate even they don’t know what Digi app is; so doesn’t matter that it is Connect, Alfa or Breeze and the last distribution channel remains “branches”. Msg for extraordinary +ve thinker, it’s better to keep the eyes on real facts and figures.
