Since going for simple and easy to understand names is too mainstream for Sony, the company’s latest true wireless earbuds (TWS) are called the Sony WF-SP800N. These earbuds bring notable upgrades such as better battery life, improved water and dust resistance, new design, etc over the last generation called the Sony WF-SP700N.
The new WF-SP800N are noise cancelling earbuds which are designed especially for sports and Sony is pitching them as a perfect companion for workouts and runs. These TWS earbuds are certified for IP55 water and dust resistance rating, which is an upgrade over the last generation’s IPX4.
The noise-cancelling feature can help minimize ambient noise in the gym or any noisy environment in general. However, there is also a feature called Quick Attention which lowers the volume temporarily by holding down one of the earbuds to let you listen to the background noise when necessary. The touch button can also be used for answering calls calling up the Google Assistant and controlling playback.
Additionally, there is also an adaptive sound control feature that automatically adjusts ambient sound settings based on what the wearer is up to. The app for iOS and Android helps adjust noise cancelling, equalizer settings, create custom profiles for different environments, and more.
The earbuds can last 9 hours with noise-cancelling and 13 hours without it and can even last up to 18 to 26 hours with the case. The case also has support for quick charge that can provide 1 hour of playtime with 10 minutes of charging.
The Sony WF-SP800N TWS earbuds are priced at $200 and Sony is shipping them with three pairs of silicone tips of different sizes and a pair of arc supports for a better fit.
