HEC Suggests a Solution to Provide Internet to Students from Remote Areas

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has indicated that it is planning to bring back students from remote areas, that have no internet facility, to their hostels to attend online classes.

Chairman HEC, Tariq Banuri, said that the education commission has sought special permission from the federal government in this regard. If allowed, the higher education commission will facilitate a small number of students from remote areas to return to their university hostels and continue their studies under strict safety protocols.

He also maintained that the growing demands from students regarding a complete fee waiver are not legit, adding that varsities could reduce insignificant charges from the fees to make them more affordable but a complete waiver is not possible.

For fees to be waived off, he said, the federal government will have to increase HEC’s annual budget.

  • Why dont they use PTCL charji its has high up and down speeds 20+ mbps

    • Because the unavailability of singals to some areas and also everyone doesn’t afford.

  • Lolx… Bring them back to Corona Hotspots. Don’t provide basic infrastructure and communication access to those remote areas in next 50years. Well done ??

  • Atleast make 25% off in this tough time.. where university giving only 5 or 10%.prime minister need young blood for country to serve where he is doing nothing for university students.

  • Its is not about the provision of internet facilities its about the provision of quality education and sorry to say our HEC even doesn’t want to mull on this.
At least for once go and see the quality of eduaction that is provided on d name of online classes.
And let me coreect you there is whatsapp classes not online classes , i think both are pole apart.
They just sent a pdf downloaded from readymade sites and sent to the students via WhatsApp.
If you are not in a position to run an institute better to handle it over to someone else who do better.
We expect at least the best from you

  • HEC should hire IT, consultant, to hire some logical man to increase your HEC webpage and make easy UI system.

    RIP

  • Wow. That’s the best they can do bring students back to hostels. Tariq bannuri tussi great ho.

  • Here anybody have a news HEC will promote students or take exams online or traditional way. And please here any news about proper and final decision. For semester systems.?

  • Some students have no internet facilities and even few of them have no money for internet packages. Every student can’t afford internet packages , so please do some relaxation for students. because it’s necessary for their better future.

  • #HEC should provide cheap internet ? pkgs with increasing bandwidth in rural area’s students where internet charges touching the sky and poor signal strength because of the low bandwidth provided by PTCL and another cellular net. electricity shortage and there are many issues facing by rural students in the current scenario taking online classes is a daunting challenge.

  • Some universities like ucp even add tax of 11000 in there fees during this epidemic no relaxation in fees

  • HEC should look into the Global online education portals like “Future Learn” and “Coursera” and develope their own to facilitate university students.
