FIA Launches Targeted Operation Against Child Pornography

Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is keeping close tabs on individuals who are involved in viewing, downloading, and disseminating child pornography in Pakistan.

This was revealed during the meeting of the Senate’s standing committee on child safety headed by PPP Senator Rubina Khalid.

During the briefing, FIA officials apprised the committee that the FIA has started a targeted operation against those involved in watching, downloading, and sharing child pornography.

FIA has adopted technical procedures in dealing with the heinous act besides introducing a new method to collect evidence against the culprits.

The officials added that the agency’s Cybercrime Wing will soon announce more measures taken against child pornography in the country.

Chairman standing committee lauded FIA’s efforts and stressed upon the need for reconciling the investigation process of the police with modern techniques to put an end to child abuse incidents.

Rawalpindi police briefed the committee that Sohail Ayaz, the leader of an international child pornography gang who was arrested last year in November from Rawalpindi, is behind bars, adding that police is pursuing the case to ensure court metes out harsh punishment to the perpetrator.
