Following Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the Azad Jammu & Kashmir government has also announced to reopen tourism spots.
Secretary tourism Midhat Shehzad said that the decision was made following the improving situation of coronavirus in AJK. However, the incoming tourists will have to follow the set standard operating procedures (SOPs), he said.

In the first phase, families and groups will be allowed to visit the attractive destinations in the valley, he said, adding that the government will ensure all possible facilities to the visitors.
Note that the federal government had announced to open tourism spots from August 8, after which tourists from across the country thronged various tourist destinations in Punjab, KP, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

As a result, massive traffic jams were reported at popular tourist destinations including Swat, Murree, Naran, Kaghan, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
