The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed flights to the United Kingdom and Europe from alternative sources.
Flights scheduled on Independence Day operated on time. The first PIA flight left Paris for Islamabad with 260 passengers. The flight departed Paris at 2 p.m., local time.
Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan has said that the Ministry of Aviation and Civil Aviation Authority are playing a vital role in the restoration of PIA flights. He said that the concerns of the international safety agencies will be resolved soon.
Ghulam Sarwar Khan said that the flight in question carried 18 passengers in the Executive Economy while 242 passengers traveled in economy class. Around 2.4 tons of cargo was also delivered to Pakistan by the flight.
Meanwhile, the national flag carrier’s alternative operations to the UK have also resumed. The first PIA flight PK-9702 with 265 passengers on board departed from Manchester on Sunday night. Departing at 9:05 pm Manchester time, the flight is expected to reach Islamabad airport on Monday morning.
It is worth mentioning here that the European air safety agency has rejected PIA’s plea for a reduction in flight ban. The agency, on the other hand, is considering extending the ban until December 31, 2020.
