Peshawar BRT Passengers to Face Fines For Not Wearing Face Masks

With Pakistan possibly in for a 2nd wave of COVID-19 outbreak, the Khyber Pukhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to impose legal action against the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service users who fail to abide by the state-issued SOPs.

As per recent news, the BRT service administration has made it compulsory for the commuters to wear masks during their travel. The spokesperson for the BRT service told the media that vigilance teams have been placed at the terminals to keep the commuters under observation, and those who fail to abide by the SOPs would be dealt with legally.

It’s worth mentioning that prior to this announcement, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) announced the decision to impose new COVID-19 restrictions across the country due to a recent surge in the novel coronavirus cases.

As a part of the new restrictions, all shopping malls, restaurants, shops, and marriage halls shall be closed by 10 pm, starting from Thursday. The authority also ordered to shut parks and recreational spots by 6 pm. The department has also made it mandatory for people to wear masks outside and have asked the local authorities to take strict action against those who violate the SOPs.
