Sindh’s Education Minister Announces His Decision on Winter Break

Sindh’s Minister for Education, Saeed Ghani, has ruled out the possibility of an academic winter break in the province this year.

He explained that Sindhi students have already enjoyed enough extended holidays in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. “Therefore, winter vacations are out of the question right now,” he declared.

However, he added that the final decision on the matter will be taken during the meeting of the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) next week.

Ghani’s statement came a day after the officials at the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference failed to reach a consensus regarding the NCOC’s recommendation to call for an early and extended winter break. Due to the disagreement, the decision-making has been postponed for a week.

This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.

  • Good Decision, students are already got behind from their schedule courses. and 4 days off in a week. that’s too much.

    • Schedule? Do love your child? Do you want to risk your child’s life for only he/she is behind schedule . Time can recover but when he/she is not here then how they can cover ? Now tell me. HOW!!!

  • Its not about their enjoyment, if there is increase in corona virus cases then they shoul be closed. Even if they continue and students students start getting ill, then what will you do of that education when children are fighting for their life. And if there is no increase in covid cases then obviously they should remain open. There is no room for the word ” enjoyment” in both scenarios.

  • Try to live with the virus and keep safety measures on priority, sort out sophisticated technological effort to make students adhered with the studies. Mansoor soomro
