Sony Might Be Working on an Xperia 1 III Compact: Leak

Sony has quite a few phones lined up for release during Q1 next year. Successors for the Xperia 1 II and 10 II are expected to release in the first three months of 2021, but newer reports suggest that the Japanese phone maker also has something different in the works.

Sony may also release a compact phone similar to the iPhone 12 Mini and perhaps the company will bring back its Xperia Compact lineup next year. A leak from Weibo suggests that this unnamed compact Sony phone will have a 5.5-inch screen, and will release in the first half of 2020.

The leak also reveals that the compact phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 775 chip and will be a lower-end variant of an existing model. According to rumors, it could be a lower-end variant of the Sony Xperia 1 III, meaning that it could be called the Xperia 1 III Compact.

Its chipset, the Snapdragon 775, is expected to be announced soon as a successor to the Snapdragon 765/765G released last year.

Not much is known about this upcoming compact device, but it is likely that it will share most of its specifications with the Xperia 1 III with a few downgrades here and there.

More information will surface as 2021 draws near.

  • If you want a primary (your go to) phone, I would suggest this Xperia 1 III Compact or Google Pixel phones.
