Qualcomm’s 700-Series Chip Will Launch in Q1 2021: Leak

The American chipset manufacturer Qualcomm launched its latest flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 888, two days ago. However, the company has not revealed anything about its new 700 series mobile platform for mid-range smartphones.

Shedding some light on the matter, Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station posted an update on Weibo revealing that the new 700 series chipset will launch in Q1 2021 and will start shipping immediately.

Digital chat station further revealed that the upcoming mobile platform would be released as a competitor to the 5nm Exynos 1080 mobile platform with an integrated 5G modem. Its second competitor will be the MT6893 by Mediatek that is a 6nm upper-midrange SoC. It will be announced later this month.

Fine details regarding the SoC are under wraps as of now. We know nothing about the upcoming mobile platform aside from its model number SM7350 and the codename Cedros, named after an island off the coast of Mexico that’s relatively close to Qualcomm’s headquarters in San Diego.

In other news, a prototype of this platform scored over 530,000 on AnTuTu, meaning it would be performing way better than the SD765G. However, it will be a step behind the last year’s flagship SD865 that reached over 600,000 on the same benchmarking platform.
