The Meeting of the IBCC steering committee was held in Islamabad yesterday on the directives of Educational Minister, Dr. Shafqat Mahmood. The meeting was held under the chair of IBCC chairman, Dr. Shehzad Jiva, and other top officials were also present in the meeting.

It has been decided that the matriculation and entrance examinations next year will be held in June instead of May so that the students get ample time to get accustomed to the curriculum. To avoid delays in university admissions, examinations have been divided into two phases. 10th and 12th class examinations will be held in the first phase, while 9th and 11th class students will appear in the second phase.

The committee also decided that the duration of each examination will be one and a half hour and all questions will be MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions). The committee also decided against taking practical examinations, instead, the practical examination marks will be integrated with the written exams.

Some members raised a proposal to conduct examinations of only a few subjects rather than the whole curriculum, but that proposal was swiftly rejected.

The final decision is expected to be officially announced within the next few days.
