Balochistan Approves New Five-Year Education Plan

The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Jam Kamal Khan, approved a five-year Education Sector Plan (2020-25) during a provincial cabinet meeting on Monday.

The plan has been prepared in collaboration with a multi-stakeholder and funding platform ‘Global Partnership for Education’, and under the supervision of the Policy Planning and Implementation Unit of the Department of Secondary Education.

During the meeting, the CM stressed the need for education, health, and sports in the province, and announced that the financial needs of the plan will be met by securing resources from the provincial government and its development partners.

“Measures are being implemented under a comprehensive strategy for the development of all the sectors. Along with the laying of a network of roads across the province, all the available resources are being utilized to achieve socio-economic goals that will not only raise the standards of living of the people of the province but will also bring development and prosperity to Balochistan,” he announced.

After deliberating over a lengthy agenda, the provincial cabinet approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sehar Organisation for the implementation of a three-year Environmental Resources Management (ERM) project. Under this project, Alternate Learning Programme (ALP) centers will be set up in the Chagai and Pishin districts of Balochistan, and an estimated 500 Afghan refugees and children between the ages of 10 and 14 from host communities will be enrolled.

The meeting also approved the Balochistan Local Councils (Model) Sub-Rules for the Registration of Births and Deaths 2020, and the Balochistan Holy Quran (Printing, Recording) Amendment Bill 2020 for the preservation of the pages of the Quran.
