Minister of Interior, Sheikh Rashid, ordered the removal of all security check posts from the roads of Islamabad to facilitate the flow of traffic. According to a media report, smart patrol cars, equipped with the latest technology, will replace the check posts.
The decision for the removal of check posts was issued by Sheikh Rashid on Thursday, following which, 18 check posts in the capital city out of a total of 21 were immediately removed by the authorities. In his press conference yesterday, Sheikh Rashid informed the media that only three check posts, two near luxury hotels and one on the Margalla Road, would remain functional.

The minister said that once the city police get more smart patrol cars in its fleet, there would not be any need for the remaining check posts in the city either. He added that the new patrol vehicles, with their latest technology, will instantly be able to track down any suspicious vehicle anywhere in the city.
Sheikh Rashid highlighted that the relevant authorities are planning a new security arrangement, which would serve the people of the city most effectively, without causing them any distress or inconvenience.
He added that the city is also a hot spot for tourists and other visitors from foreign countries. He stressed that it is therefore vital for the government to give them the best impression of Pakistan when they visit Islamabad.
I think Sheikh Rashid will handle this ministry better than his previous.
Get rid of police check posts everywhere. They are the main source of illegal revenue for the police dept.
Wio great decision
Good step
Check posts are not menance but vip movements are. It would be wise to make arrangements for vip movement which cause delays rather than removing the check posts.
Great job shiek sahab i am your voter sir and i think thats good
Very good step. very good. they always hurt civilians. hope for best Pakistan now.
Very good step taken.
Please implement it all over the country.
Thanks a lot.
Well Done Sheikh Sahib. Keep it up. Do it in Pindi also.
Smart move
It is better and pleasant way to get rid of teasing by police corruption on the name of security. Think about other cities of pakistan.
Good initiative. But rightly said above, the main hurdle is VIP movement which is a torture for general public in all over the country
Check posts should be removed from all over the country
Is this also applicable for Rawalpindi? or only for Islamabad burger luxurious people’s
It’s a good initiative,at the same time disruption caused by vip movement needs a review, for smooth traffic flow in Lahore also.
Army Check post between RA bazar and chungi 22 number shall also be removed which is causing additional burden of fuel cost due to alternate road
Great step.
Dear Minister of interior, I pray for your’s and Pakistan success in sha Allah, it is a very good gesture to remove check posts but please ensure that the safety of citizen are not compromised.
Kindly issue strict instruction that officials on duty must be very polite and helpful towards citizen. Regards.
