For the first time in its history, Karachi University (KU) has decided to admit students under an open merit policy after more than 75% of the applicants had failed their entry tests.
In this regard, the KU administration has annulled the results of the entry tests of the Masters Program of four departments. Candidates will now be admitted to departments of Pakistan studies, commerce, mass communication, and criminology under open merit.

Moreover, KU has reduced the passing marks from 50 to 25 for the entry tests of business school and department of public administration.
As for the Bachelors program, KU has decreased the passing marks of seven departments from 50 to 40-45.
It includes the departments of applied chemistry and chemical technology, applied physics, education, environmental studies, petroleum technology, special education, and teacher’s education.

KU has also reduced the last year’s closing percentages in intermediate exams for the admissions in the Bachelors program under open merit.
The cutoff percentage for the department of computer science has been reduced from 75% to 72%, for the department of software engineering from 76% to 73%, for the department of food and science from 72% to 54%, for the department of international relations from 75% to 62%, for the department of mass communication from 75% to 65%, and for business school from 77% to 73%.

This is because skilled education is unable to provide jobs to the graduates. So people find it useless to study…
On the other hand, arts and general subjects do not attract students bcz they r not required in job criteria.

Securing percentage is already a headache… There is no difference in student giving his 100 percent effort in exam and one giving 50 percent, both secure equal marks, so standard cannot be raised… Abolish testing policies… Boards and universities are reluctant to give marks in exams… and entry tests are far behind the courses which students have gone through in their previous educational year… you cannot judge a person by asking him different and difficult questions… It’s a bitter truth believe it or not…

The level of education in Karachi has always been bad, these students of Karachi lack the mentality of being the best and having a brilliant mind, which they clearly don’t and never will.
Can some one guide me if i completed my 16 years education in BSIT then I have to b.ed again or i m m.ed eligible. As before we have to do 1.5 year b.ed now b.ed is of 4 years.
