Bird strikes are frequent at almost all national airports. Every year, airlines pay millions of rupees in damages for planes because of them.

In a bid to counter these incidents, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had decided to deploy bird shooters at national airports. Twelve shooters were deployed at the Allama Iqbal Airport, Lahore in October in this regard, and more will be hired for the Karachi and Peshawar airports.
