Oppo Unveils Reno 5 Pro+ Featuring Flagship Specs And 65W Fast Charging

Earlier this month, Oppo unveiled its Reno 5 series of upper mid-range phones including the Reno 5 and the Reno 5 Pro in China. Now the company has released the top-end model in the series, the Reno 5 Pro+, which is also the only flagship model in the lineup costing no more than $689.

Design and Display

 

The Reno 5 Pro+ looks nearly identical to the rest of the phones in the series. It has a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen is curved from the sides similar to the Reno 5 Pro and has a punch-hole front camera.

There are three large camera sensors on the rear next to a smaller lens and an array of LED flash units.

Internals and Specifications

Qualcomm’s recently outdated flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 865 powers the device with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Unfortunately, there is no memory card slot for storage expansion, but 256GB of onboard storage should be more than enough.

You get Android 11 and Oppo’s Color OS 11 on the software front.

Cameras

The main camera sensor is a 50MP Sony IMX766 that is flanked by a 16MP ultrawide lens, a 13MP telephoto unit, and a 2MP macro lens. These cameras can record 4K videos at 60 FPS as well as 1080p videos in slow motion.

The punch-hole front camera is a 32MP shooter.

Battery and Pricing

Reno 5 Pro+’s 4,500 mAh battery cell has support for Oppo’s SuperVOOC 2.0 65W fast charging as well as reverse charging to let the phone double as a power bank. This charging technology can fill up the battery from 0 to 100% in only 35 minutes.

The Oppo Reno 5 Pro+ is officially available for $689 in Black and White color options.
