Government Sets Deadline for LWMC to Achieve Zero Waste Target

Provincial Minister for Industries and Trade, Mian Aslam Iqbal, revealed in a statement that the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has been directed to achieve a waste-free status by 15th January 2021.

The government is poised to take action against officials of the LWMC in the event the zero-waste target is not achieved.

The provincial minister expressed his views to media reps during a routine inspection of different LWMC stations at Valencia Town, Sagian Bridge, and the company’s main facilitation center behind the Children’s hospital.

Upon inspection of the operational LWMC workshops, the minister was annoyed at the unmaintained disposal vehicles. He ordered the management representatives on-station to take notice of the situation and timely address such issues so the government could avoid unprecedented financial losses in the future.

Other issues of availability of required waste disposal instruments were also addressed. More details on the matter will be provided in due time.
