PEMRA Bans TV Commercial for Men’s Health Product ‘Mirth’

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has banned a men’s health commercial from being aired on various satellite TV channels on the directive of the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shibli Faraz.

A notification that was issued last week in this regard ordered TV channels and all the broadcast media service operators to stop the airing of the advertisement of a salajit-based men’s health product called ‘Mirth.’

PEMRA said that it has been receiving multiple complaints against the nature of the commercial.

The authority is in receipt of numerous complaints against relaying of the advertisement “Mirth” depicting a product that claims to be related men’s health by various satellite TV channel licenses.

Objecting to the nature of the advertisement, the media watchdog announced an immediate ban on its broadcast.

  • PEMRA, SHIBLI SB, What about the adds in which women sanitary pads are discussed? I suppose that these adds should be also prohibited or the govt is under influence of the pads manufacturing multinational company. SHIBLI sb, please maintain ONE standard for both genders.
