The first World Test Championship has faced numerous hurdles, mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic and many scheduled series could not be completed. International Cricket Council decided to reassess and amend the points system, determining the final World Test Championship League standings from matches played.

The schedule of the latest IPL season has not been decided as of yet but it is speculated that the tournament will be held between April and May. The final of the tournament is likely to be held at the end of May or the start of June.

The decision has been made to postpone the final in order to give plenty of preparation time to the players involved in both the World Test Championship and the IPL.
