Govt Extends Closing Times for Restaurants, Shops, and Wedding Halls

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has revised the timing for outdoor dining in restaurants. The decision was made during a meeting of the NCOC on Wednesday and was announced later in the day.

As per the circular, the forum lifted the restriction on outdoor dining in restaurants. Eateries across the country can now serve their customers outdoors even after 10 PM under strict COVID-19 protocols.

The new notification has also extended the closure timings for shopping malls, shops, and marriage halls by two hours, allowing them to operate until 10 PM.

The NCOC also issued a mandate for the wearing of masks and directed the provincial governments to ensure its implementation amid the rising cases of coronavirus infections in the country.

It has maintained the ‘Work From Home’ (WFH) policy and has instructed both public and private offices to implement WFH conditions while allowing only 50 percent of employees to work from offices.

The NCOC also endorsed the decision to reopen universities and primary schools across the country from February 1.

The session was chaired by the Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, who also spearheads the government’s drive against the COVID-19 pandemic. It was attended by the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan, the Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, the Health Secretary, the DRAP Head Dr. Asif Rauf, and other senior officials.
