Everyone In Punjab Will Be Covered Under Sehat Insaf Card This Year

Prime Minister Imran Khan has been informed that the entire population of Punjab will have health cards by the end of this year.

The PM received the briefing while chairing a meeting to review progress on the provision of health cards in the province.

The Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Asad Umar, the Provincial Minister for Health, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, and senior federal and provincial officials attended the meeting in person while Chief Minister, Sardar Usman Buzdar, and the Provincial Minister for Finance, Hashim Jawan Bakht, attended via video link.

PM Imran was told during the session that seven more districts will receive the Sehat Sahulat Card by June this year and that the entire province will receive health cards by the end of 2021.

The premier appreciated the progression of the project and remarked that the provision of better healthcare facilities for the masses is his government’s foremost priority.

“In the past, the low segments of the society were neglected in provision of health facilities,” he said and hoped that it will provide better health facilities to the poor segment of the society.

Dr. Yasmin Rashid had called on the PM in Islamabad to discuss matters about the health sector on 4 January. She told the premier that efforts to cover 100 percent of families in Punjab through the Sehat Sahulat program under which each family will receive insurance of up to Rs. 720,000 within 12 months are afoot.

She also apprised him about the plans to provide seven districts of Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan with health insurance cards by June 2021, and to cover the other districts by the end of 2021.
