PMD Forecasts Winters to be Unusually Severe in February

Weather is expected to get colder in February this year, with reports suggesting temperatures to hit new lows in the next few weeks. According to a comparison stat released by the Met Office, cold spells during February are getting unusually more severe with every passing year.

Last week, temperatures in Karachi dipped as low as 9 degrees, with humidity hovering at 63 percent. As per statistics, temperatures below -14°C were recorded in Skardu, -12°C in Astore, -8°C in Gilgit and Hunza, and -4°C in Quetta.

Fog is expected to reappear in parts of Punjab, and people have been advised to avoid long journeys via roads.

Yesterday, the minimum temperature recorded in Karachi was 11.5°C. This week, light winds are expected to blow in the southern parts of the port city.

Parts of Balochistan, particularly Quetta and Kalat, recorded temperatures below -1°C and -3°C, respectively. Overall, dry weather will prevail throughout the province in the following days.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, cities like Peshawar and Abbottabad will experience partly overcast conditions for the next week or so, with upper parts of the province to have light showers till the end of February.

As per weather forecasts released by the Pakistan Meteorological Department, parts of Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan will undergo a considerable change in the weather during February.

Weather in Punjab would not show any significant changes, with cloud covers predicted in most parts of the province.
