Punjab Issues New COVID SOPs as Schools Reopen

As educational institutions across the province are reopening today, the Government of Punjab has issued another set of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to keep the masses safe from the coronavirus.

According to the new instructions issued by the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, all the public and private offices are to observe the work from home (WFH) policy for 50 percent of their staff until 28 February. The public has also been urged to use face masks in confined public places.

The department has also lifted the ban on outdoor dining after 10 PM, with allowance for takeaways also. However, all public parks will continue to be closed by 6 PM.

While the ban on indoor weddings and functions is still in place, outdoor functions have been permitted with a limit of 300 guests in strict compliance with the COVID-19 SOPs.

The order states:

There will be a complete ban on all types of large-scale indoor gatherings while only outdoor gatherings shall be allowed with an upper limit of 300 persons. The new order has come into force at once and will remained enforced.

The new order has been enforced today and will remain in effect until 28 February, unless amended.
