Govt Begins Vaccine Registration Process for Elder Citizens

The federal government has started the registration process for Coronavirus vaccination for people aged 65 years or more.

Taking to Twitter, Federal Minister for Planning, Asad Umar, penned that citizens can register by sending their CNIC number on 1166, adding that vaccination of this age group will start in March.

According to SAPM on Health, Dr. Faisal Sultan, there are over 8.5 million citizens above 60 years of age and they will be administered the AstraZeneca/Oxford’s Coronavirus vaccine.

Dr. Faisal said that Pakistan has secured 17 million doses of AstraZeneca’s Coronavirus through COVAX, 7 million of which will reach Pakistan next month.

On February 3, the federal government started the countrywide COVID-19 vaccination campaign with China’s Sinopharm vaccine, with frontline healthcare workers being vaccinated in the first phase of the drive.

So far, the Drug and Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has approved four Coronavirus vaccines for use in the country, which includes China’s Sinopharm and CansinoBio, UK’s AstraZeneca/Oxford, and Russia’s Sputnik V.
