Fawad Chaudhry Requests Judges to Stay Away from Technology-Related Cases

Progress on the national technological front has been hampered by years of judicial activism, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry, has lamented.

While addressing the International Media Conference at Fatima Jinnah Women University in Rawalpindi, the Minister said that judicial activism and questionable court decisions in recent years have dealt a severe blow to the government’s relations with both national and international tech companies.

Fawad Chaudhry criticized the lack of understanding of the technology of most judges and requested them to not hear cases linked with technology and digital sectors.

The Minister also attributed the country’s lack of technological advancement to the over-regulation of technology and digital sectors due to the myopic policies of the previous governments.

He said that Pakistan needs to prepare itself for the future and attract foreign investment which can only be done by altering unconducive state policies and restricting the judiciary from forays.

The Minister also invited tech companies to Pakistan for the training and skills development of Pakistani students.
